Five points that should be paid attention to during use of aluminum casting mold

Special attention should be paid to following points during use of aluminum casting mold:

1.It is very troublesome to clean mold parting surface. It is easy to ignore. If your boss has a high starting point and buy a good aluminum mold, it will be much easier to work. If aluminum casting mold quality is not good, it is inevitable that there will be flash or dirt on mold parting surface during production. Operator should always clean these parts and equip with a small blade at any time. If flash edge is not removed in time, mold parting surface is easy to collapse, causing aluminum to run during production process. Once this is done, no matter how good mold repair expert are, possibility of complete repair is very small. It is not that they are not capable. Consequences of running aluminum alloys for mold have not only increased cost of aluminum casting mold, but also caused aluminum alloys for mold to be wasted, quality of product is also unstable, especially internal quality, and difficulty of determining process parameters is increased. Qualification rate will drop a lot. From safety point of view, increased chance of a work-related injury. At the time of handover, operator should thoroughly cleans mold parting surface with kerosene, which not only prevents aluminum casting mold from being crushed, but also can clean mold by residue of release agent or other dirt of mold release agent. Venting groove is opened, which is beneficial to gas discharge in cavity during injection process to improve quality of product. It is advisable to clean parting surface twice in a group. Let employees develop a good habit.

2.When each team takes over, in accordance with company’s “Mold Checklist” to do a serious inspection, find problems in a timely manner, so as not to cause unnecessary trouble for themselves.

3.Use of mold cooling system. Mold cooling water not only prolongs service life of aluminum mold but also improves production efficiency when used correctly. In actual production, we often overlook importance of it, operators also save trouble, pick up and take too much trouble, do not pick up cooling water pipe, and some aluminum mold maker even do not need cool in order to save costs when customizing aluminum casting mold, which has serious consequences. Materials of molds are generally made of special mold steels through various treatments. Even the best mold steels have their limits, such as temperature. When mold is in use, if mold temperature is too high, it will easily cause crack on the surface of core early, some aluminum casting mold have not been produced more than 2,000 times and cracks appear in large areas. Even in the production of molds, because mold temperature is too high, core has changed color, and after measurement even reaches more than four hundred degrees, such a temperature is prone to cracking when mold release agent is chilled, and produced product is also prone to deformation, strain, and sticking. In the case of using mold cooling water, use of release agent can be greatly reduced, so that operator does not use release agent to lower temperature of aluminum mold. It has advantages of effectively extending life of mold, saving die casting cycle, improving product quality, reducing occurrence of sticking, straining, sticking aluminum, and reducing use of release agent. It also reduces loss of ram and core due to overheating of mold temperature.

4.Aluminum casting mold must be preheated in the process of starting production to prevent sudden occurrence of hot metal liquid in cold mold and occurrence of cracks. More complicated mold can use blowtorch, liquefied gas, aluminum mold maker with good conditions can use mold temperature machine. Relatively simple mold can be preheated with a slow injection.

5.If Aluminum casting mold is equipped with neutron control, it is absolutely forbidden to have signal line between die casting machine and mold. Reason is very clear. In daily production, it is difficult to avoid water on the signal line, or place where joint is wrapped is easy to break, causes short-circuit with machine tool. If signal is wrong, lightly alarm will automatically stop and delay time. Severely signal will be disordered and mold will be broken, cause unnecessary losses. Travel switch should be waterproof.
