Medical moulding is a very demanding mold that focuses on the mold of medical plates, tube mold, cuvette mold, cell culture plate mold, cell culture dish mold, culture flask mold, applicator mold, pipette tip mold, nebulizer mold, breathing mask mold, instrument supplies moulding and other medical moulded products. Its product inspection standards are extremely high. In addition to high-precision processing, use of this kind of product is very important, and national inspection standards of Quality Supervision Bureau must be understood. Some products require clinical testing to determine eligibility.
Tips on the manufacture of medical moulding
Mold core cavity steels commonly used in medical molds are NAK80, S136 and similar brand steel. Hafo Medical Mold generally recommends NAK80, S136 materials for good injection quality.
Designing mold structure is a prerequisite for manufacture of a qualified mold. Mold structure and product structure must be analyzed before mold is manufactured, including mold release slope, product surface microfilm, gating system design, exhaust system Design, design of cooling system and so on. These are the most important and most problematic issues.
Suggestion from Hafo plastic molding services center: The design of cooling system is a relatively complicated task considering cooling effect and uniformity of cooling, and influence of cooling system on the overall structure of mold. Hafo Mould adopts circulating water close to mold forming surface to reduce cooling time during injection molding, improve production efficiency of product, and greatly reduce production cost.
The main difficulty of needle is that core size accuracy of needle tip is not well controlled, even equipment with high processing precision may not be able to be processed in place. The bottom Luer joint size is designed according to slope of 6:100, and must be tested in strict accordance with national standards. Actual accuracy may be 0.005-0.01mm, otherwise there will be water leakage, and core processing scrap rate is very high.
Firstly in the selection of die steel material, it should be selected to have a high hardness and steel material above HRC 35° is the most suitable one. NAK80/S136 steel material is generally selected to has a small degree of thermal deformation and excellent discharge.
Secondly control of processing precision is particularly important, because needle product of puncturing device is very small, and the smallest hole has a diameter of only 1 mm, meanwhile concentricity of core must be ensured, which is very accurate for testing precision of mold processing personnel and processing equipment. We chose imported high-speed lathes when selecting processing equipment, and tried to use equipment that was used for less than 5 years, because actual machining accuracy of equipment that has been out of old years has deviated, which will directly affect molding of products. Needle to use copper electrode is not easy to wear, high-speed carved in place after mold and then use mirror spark to hit position (here should pay attention to processing spark gap control).
Thirdly choice of rubber mouth, generally this product will use multi-cavity design structure, the mold uses imported hot runner to transfer latent glue, because rubber mouth is on the inclined surface and it is easy to appear rubber mouth. So latent glue EDM is especially important, and spark gap should be within 0.01.
There are more than 10,000 kinds of medical devices, 34 categories, such as health care equipment and polymer plastic products. Most of them such as large to high-pressure oxygen chamber, small to hearing aids, cardiac pacemakers are related to mold. Polymer composite materials forming, biological life engineering, precision and ultra-precision mold from medical equipment and equipment parts played a pivotal role in the medical equipment manufacturing.
China’s medical device industry has grown rapidly from small to large, and has now become a sunrise industry with a relatively complete product category, increasing innovation capabilities and strong market demand. Especially in recent years, development speed of medical device industry has further accelerated, and output value of products has maintained double-digit growth for many consecutive years, quantity and technological content of product exports have also been continuously improved.
Maintenance of medical moulding
Maintenance of medical moulding is very important. The more times that mold is repaired, the shorter their lifespan; the better that mold is maintained, the longer their service life will be. There are three main points in mold maintenance:
- Daily maintenance of mold: various moving parts such as thimble, row position, guide column, guide sleeve refueling, mold surface cleaning, water transporting road, which is maintained every day when these plastic Injection Moulds are used.
- Regular maintenance: In addition to daily maintenance, venting tank should be cleaned, damaged, and worn parts should be corrected.
- Appearance maintenance: paint on the outside of mold base should be avoid rust. When mold is used, fixed mold should be coated with anti-rust oil. Mold should be closed tightly when it is stored to prevent dust from entering the cavity.
